General Committee Information
D12 and ISO
US TAG to ISO TC 91 on Surface Active Agents: To assure that positions here in the U.S., which are submitted to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), regarding product and standards development in the soap and detergents industry are representative of U.S. interests. ASTM Subcommittee D12.33 was accredited by ANSI prior to 1970 to serve as the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to ISO Technical Committee 91- Surface Active Agents. As a participating (P) member, the U.S. TAG has been responsible for determining U.S. positions on proposed and existing international standards, committee drafts, annual and technical reports issued by ISO TC 91 and ISO questionnaires, along with nominating U.S. technical experts to serve on various ISO working groups and recommendations regarding the acceptance of the secretariats position on ISO technical committees and subcommittees. Membership in the U.S. TAG is open to all interested national associations, companies and individuals who are directly and materially affected by ISO TC 91 committee work. Although ASTM membership is not required to join the U.S. TAG it is highly recommended as a means of becoming more familiar with the development and implementation of national standards used by the soap and detergents industry.
