THIS PRODUCT HAS BEEN REPLACED BY STP 169D. This state-of-the-art publication presents the latest technology in concrete and concrete-making materials. It is the revision to popular STP 169B, and contains 10 new chapters which reflect the concrete industry's special needs and the developments which have taken place since the last edition. All other chapters have been revised or updated. 55 peer-reviewed papers are divided into 6 sections: Part I concentrates on the necessity to provide a quality product. A new chapter deals with the variability of concrete-making materials and the impact on concrete quality. Other chapters deal with statistical considerations in sampling and testing, techniques for sampling, the role of testing laboratories in the search for quality, and research needs. Part II on Freshly-Mixed Concrete, concentrates on concrete workability, air content and yield, setting time, bleeding, cement and water contents, and making and curing test specimens. Part III discusses Hardened Concrete, and contains a new chapter on prediction of concrete strength from early age test results. Part IV on Concrete Aggregates contains two new chapters on the chemical reaction problems between cements and both siliceous and carbonate aggregates. Part V deals with Other Concrete Making Materials, and includes two new chapters on the physical and chemical properties of cement. Part VI on Specialized Concretes contains four new chapters on fiber reinforced concrete, roller compact concrete, polymer modified concrete, and shotcrete. Table of Contents | ||||
