Membership / Member Types

ASTM International offers four different types of membership. To view the benefits related with each member type, click on the related link below:

• Informational members have an interest in ASTM Intl. standards and related technical information, but choose not to participate on technical committees. Informational members are kept abreast of the standards field and desire to receive key information related to standardization issues. Annual informational membership costs $75.
  
  
• Participating members are individuals who choose to join ASTM Intl. technical committees. They actively develop new standards and revise existing ones. This work is done in a unique professional environment, which draws from the top players in the field who work cooperatively in forwarding their own interests. Through direct participation in the ASTM Intl. standards-writing process, participating members are personally involved in the development of intellectual capital that is on the cutting edge of new trends and technology. These members represent various interests within an industry such as producers, users, consumers, as well as general interest representation from government and academia. Annual participating membership costs $75.
  
  
• Organizational members are organizations that choose to support the ASTM Intl. voluntary consensus process through the designation of a representative that may choose to participate as an informational or participating member. Organizational members understand the value of ASTM Intl. and what it contributes to industry and to the world through voluntary consensus standards by choosing to provide added funding to the Society.

  Organizational members have the satisfaction of knowing their support serves the public good, while contributing to the growth of their employees, their industries, and international trade. Annual organizational membership costs $400.

  
  
• Student Members are full-time undergraduate or graduate students who avail themselves of information from ASTM International. Student members receive monthly electronic versions of the ASTM magazine, Standardization News. They also receive the online edition of Access ASTM International quarterly. Student members may participate in the ASTM Paper Contest, which includes publication opportunities, industry recognition, and cash prizes. These and other benefits are available to individuals holding student membership in ASTM International, which is free of charge.
