Membership / Honors and Awards Program Honors and Awards Society Awards Awards with Society Recognition Technical Committee Awards ASTM International Awards Program The objective of the ASTM International Honors and Awards Program is to recognize the dedication and exemplary effort of ASTM Intl. members in regard to the development and promulgation of ASTM Intl. Standards and related information. Awards can be grouped into three categories: Society Awards, Society Recognized Committee Awards, and Technical Committee Awards. Society Awards are created by the ASTM International Board of Directors to meet specific recognition needs which have broad applications to the overall Society and therefore cannot be addressed by individual technical committees. These awards are administered and financially supported by the Society. Society Recognized Committee Awards are recognized by the ASTM Intl. Board of Directors, but are developed, administered and financially supported by a technical committee. A description of Society and Society Recognized Awards follows. In addition, many technical committees have established additional awards to serve their needs in regard to recognition of significant contributions of its members. The Society Recognized and Technical Committee Awards represent the largest number of awards within ASTM International. This is appropriate due to the fact that individual accomplishments within specific industries are most effectively rewarded by the technical committees representing those industries. The Society recognizes the value of the committee awards programs and lends financial support through a yearly supplement program. Many formats are available for the presentation to recipients, including: walnut plaques, calligraphied certificates, acrylic awards, and medals. A wall plaque mounted at ASTM International Headquarters is an option for Society Recognized Awards. The committee can work with staff to determine the award format that meets their need and budget. More information, including details on how to submit a nomination and criteria for selection, is available by contacting Barbara Smith in the ASTM Intl. Awards Program at bsmith@astm.org, or by phone at (610) 832-9684. Information on technical committee awards is also available from the relevant staff manager. | ||
