ASTM Committee F15 on Consumer Products was formed in 1973. The Committee, with a current membership of 1320 participants on 63 technical subcommittees, has jurisdiction of 109standards, published in the Annual Book of ASTM Standards, Volume 15.11. The 63 subcommittees of F15 each serve a different product area (for example juvenile products, toys, playground equipment, candles, pool safety), and meet independently on different schedules depending upon level of activity and need. Developed by a unique mixture of representatives from industry, government, testing laboratories, retailers and the ultimate consumer, the F15 standards have and continue to play a preeminent role in reducing the number of injuries and death associated with the use and performance of consumer products based on identified hazards.
