Currently, there is no document that has been produced in the industry that is a consensus of the fireproofing industry manufacturers and contractors. The ASTM Standard proposed creates that key document that has been developed by manufacturers, contractors AND those inspection agencies that provide fireproofing inspections. ASTMs new document will provide in mandatory code acceptable language the method to inspect IFRM Fireproofing Systems. Architects will specify this standard as the inspections are mandated by Chapter 17 of the International Building Code.
