New Guide for reproducible low-frequency acoustical measurements in reverberation rooms

1. Scope
The scope of the standard is to define a new guide for making reproducible measurements in low-frequency one-third octave bands (OTO) in reverberation rooms where, based on the room dimensions, the sound field is not modally dense. This standard can be applied while testing floor-ceiling assemblies for the Impact Insulation Class (IIC) test (E492) and can be a guideline to conduct tests for the low-frequency IIC rating (LIIC), which is under progress with the committee at the moment.
Keywords
low frequency; reverberation; modally dense sound field
Rationale

In most of the reverberation rooms used for sound measurement today, the sound field is not modally dense at the some of the low-frequency OTO bands where we make our measurements. Due to this, the lab-to-lab reproducibility of these test methods is poor. With the proposed method, the low-frequency measurements can be made reproducible.
