ASTM WK75265
In PBF, polymeric powder is used to create a 3 dimensional components in a layer-by-layer process. Any excess powder involved in the process is typically recycled and potentially re-used in subsequent manufacturing runs. Although PBF users are currently using their own or manufacturer advised processes, there are still challenges for recycling and re-use that need to be overcome. These challenges are as follows: 1.There is no standard procedure to evaluate recycled polymer powder quality 2.There are no existing standards on whether or not a used feedstock can be recycled/re-used 3.There is no published best-practice for using recycled powder and how to incorporate used powder in future builds This guide will address these challenges and provide guidance on best-practice for the recycling/re-use of polymers powders for use within PBF.
