1. Scope

1. Scope 1.1 This test method covers the identification and determination of phenolic antioxidants that may be found in unused or used electrical insulating liquids by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultraviolet (UV) detection. NOTE: Additional parts to the standard, covering other potential additives and other insulating liquids, will be developed as necessary. NOTE: Aminic, sulfur-containing, and phosphorus containing antioxidants could potentially be detected using this method or a modification of this method (extraction procedure, HPLC solvent system, and/or detection wavelength).
