Rationale

ASTM C856 includes information on evaluating for specific mechanisms of deterioration. The goal fof this work item is to create an appendix for ASTM C856 in which this specific information can be inserted. ASTM C856 does not encompass all mechanisms of deterioration. The appendix would aim to include each mechanism, while leaving ASTM C856 as a general standard practice for evaluating concrete, concrete products, and portions thereof.
