ASTM WK86951

New Specification for Undenatured Fuel Ethanol for Blending with Gasoline.

1. Scope
To develop a standard specification to support the use of renewable, low carbon ethanol for blending with gasoline that does not contain a denaturant yet in conformance with applicable laws.
Keywords
fuel ethanol
Rationale

There is no ASTM standard equivalent for undenatured ethanol fit for fuel blending. There is also a technology using denatured fuel ethanol as a motor fuel. We are recommending they use D4806 to avoid taxation. Denaturant increases CI. Mindful of liquor taxation regulations that require a denaturant. (U.S.: $27/ gallon) To explore a standard specification for undenatured ethanol for fuel use. The term “denature” appears 192 times in D4806.
