Rationale

This is the first proposed revision to D3878-23 upon completion of the “Hard Scrub” effort, during which it was noted that our terminology is not consistent in accounting for fiber orientations, and not just ply orientations, for laminates containing fabric plies (as well as plies of other textiles). This covers revisions to several terms, such that fiber orientations in materials which include more than one fiber orientation per ply are addressed in the D3878 terminology.
