Extend Minimum Size Range and Associated Tolerances in Table 2 - Permissible Variations for Outside Diameter and Wall Thickness of Seamless Cold-Worked Pipe and Tube. The lower outside diameter limit is currently over 0.400” [10 mm]. Because of this, users of specifications such as ASTM B423 that reference B829 for the tolerances are incorrectly defaulting to the converter size tolerances because the converter size tolerance table contains values for O.D.s = 0.400” [10 mm]. Converter size requirements are to only be required when they are invoked on the purchase order. Adding a line to Table 2 for O.D.s = 0.400” [10 mm] will eliminate this confusion.
