Each of the variables from the equipment and feedstock materials complicate the DED process, which in turn deteriorates the reproducibility of a DED process. The objective of this project is to in-depth understand the laser blown powder DED process by study the key parameters from different systems and standardize the process data in a format which can be applied to different DED systems. The common data exchange format for DED will serve as a foundation for digitalization of the DED process to store the process data and to compare the process across different DED systems. A CDEF for laser DED process will benefit the L-DED industry.
