Rationale

The existing stucco nominal thickness requirements (which have been unchanged since 1971) require 5/8" total thickness on horizontal applications but 7/8" total on vertical applications. The difference in thickness between horizontal and vertical work does not make sense and will not provide sufficient coverage over the lath in horizontal applications. The proposed change in this ballot item increases the thickness for 3-coat horizontal work from 5/8" to 7/8".
