Rationale

ASTM F1700 Standard Specification for Solid Vinyl Tile has been around for a long time. When developed essentially all modular products were considered tiles. Over time other modular formats have become common such as Planks of varying lengths and widths as well as other shapes. The product construction is the same, with the difference being the product’s punched or cut shape, still being modular in nature but of a wide range of sizes and shapes beyond simple 12” X 12” tiles. This ballot modification only attempts to address inclusion of these other product formats, beyond just square and rectangular tiles. Only the intended language change to include planks and other modular formats is being balloted for consideration.
