ASTM WK90695
Reinstatement of F2998-14 Guide for Using Fluorescence Microscopy to Quantify the Spread Area of Fixed Cells (Withdrawn 2023)
Rationale
05/09/2024 Dear ASTM membership, leadership and administration, I would like to reinstate F2998-14 and replace it with this updated version. The original standard was withdrawn due to miscommunication on deadlines. The updated version contains the following changes: 1. All documentary standard callouts were checked for relevance and availability. (1 standard reference added) 2. All literature references were checked for relevance and availability. (1 literature reference was added) 3. Tables that provide examples of fluorophores that can be used for staining only use chemical names and are current. (no change) 4. A new section was added in "Significance and Uses" topic. The standard can be used to help generate training data to develop and test AI systems. 5. All other changes were grammer/text to provide more clarity. Please consider the reinstatement of this standards document with the original F2998 designation. It provides direct guidance for measuring cell morphology on biomaterial surfaces. This is an important cell-based measurement for both research and manufacturing of TEMPs. Thanks for your consideration. John Elliott Cell Systems Science Group Leader National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
