New Practice for Standard Practice for Determining the Bacterial and Fungal Inhibition of a Vapor Releasing Test Substance Under Simulated Field Conditions

1. Scope
This practice is used to evaluate the bacterial and fungal inhibition properties of test substance under simulated field, i.e., bathroom conditions with controlled temperature and relative humidity
Keywords
Antimicrobial; Bacterial inhibition; fungal inhibition; aspergillus niger; Pseudomonas aeruginosa; Staphylococcus aureus
Rationale

High humidity regions throughout the world have issues with persistent bacterial and fungal contamination in bathrooms. This method is intended to test the bacterial and fungal inhibition properties of vapor products under simulated field conditions using testing temperature and humidity controlled chambers. This practice is written to simulate the conditions of a typical bathroom containing a sink, toilet, bathtub, and shower, as applicable for the product use site. However, this practice may also be used in locations other than bathrooms with a chamber configuration (size, contents, etc.) modified for other high humidity and high ambient temperature locations desired by the investigator.
