ASTM WK91331
Revision of D7224-23 Standard Test Method for Determining Water Separation Characteristics of Kerosine-Type Aviation Turbine Fuels Containing Additives by Portable Separometer
Rationale
D7224-23, Standard Test Method for Determining Water Separation Characteristics of Kerosine-Type Aviation Turbine Fuels Containing Additives by Portable Separometer. is used for testing aviation turbine fuels at airports around the world. This method currently lists a single supplier of consumables as “known to the committee.” It is in the interest of the Committee and the public to identify alternative suppliers for equivalent consumables to ensure supply and encourage innovation and competition while maintaining technical equivalence. Metaspec, San Antonio, Texas, has developed a set of consumables for this test method and will request a revision to D7224 to list these consumables after an ILS has been conducted to evaluate equivalency and reported to the committee. A preliminary study was presented to the Committee in December 2023 and an Administrative Ballot was authorized in June, 2024, to solicit feedback on the ILS design as a first step in this revision.
