Rationale

In order to permit D3080 to be reinstated, Gerald Verbeek agreed to withdraw his negative on the promise that a new ballot item would be issued to replace the term “engineer” with “qualified professional” in sections 1.4 and 1.5. The action was delayed, with Verbeek’s approval, to give the Executive Committee of D18 time to consider the matter. However, at the Executive Meeting on June 9, 2024 the executive subcommittee voted to not have a policy, but to leave the matter to the individual technical subcommittees. Therefore, this ballot item is in keeping with the original agreement between the negative voter and the technical contact.
