ASTM WK91462

Revision of D4814-24 Standard Specification for Automotive Spark-Ignition Engine Fuel

Rationale

Currently, ASTM D525 STM for Oxidation Stability of Gasoline (Induction Period Method) is the only recognized oxidation stability test in D4814 with a minimum limit of 240 minutes. CRC recently completed a study that attempted to correlate D7525 STM for Oxidation Stability of Spark Ignition Fuel-Rapid Small Scale Oxidation Test (RSSOT) to D525. In response to this CRC effort, it was determined that ASTM would investigate establishing a go-no go value for D7525 that will provide an approximate 95% probability of passing the 240-minute minimum of D525.
