ASTM WK91569

Revision of D4308-21 Standard Test Method for Electrical Conductivity of Liquid Hydrocarbons by Precision Meter

Rationale

This ballot proposes adding a reference to Terminology D4175 to Sections 2 and 3. ASTM Form & Style, Section A7.2.5 reads: Referencing Terminology Standard— If the terminology applicable to the standard is included in a terminology standard, cite the applicable terminology standard. Example follows: 3.1 Definitions: 3.1.1 For definitions of terms used in this test method, refer to Terminology [D4175]. D4308 states in scope 1.1 “This test method covers and applies to the determination of the “rest” electrical conductivity of aviation fuels and other similar low-conductivity hydrocarbon liquids in the range from 1?pS/m to 2000?pS/m (see 3.1.2).” Section 1.1 scope, Section 3.1 Definitions rest conductivity definition, and Section 5.1 Significance and Use are being edited to use the phrase “rest electrical conductivity”. Both definitions are being edited to be in proper F & S by limiting the definition to one sentence and using a Discussion for the rest of the current definition. The effect of these revisions to D4308 will be to harmonize these definitions with D2624.
