Rationale

ASTM Standards E30 – Test Methods for Chemical Analysis of Steel, Cast Iron, Open-Hearth Iron, and Wrought Iron was withdrawn in 1995. ASTM Standard E59 – Practice for Sampling Steel and Iron for Determination of Chemical Composition was withdrawn in 1996. Both standards are referenced in Paragraph 6 – Chemical Composition. ASTM Standard A919 – Terminology Relating to Heat Treatment of Metals was withdrawn in 1999. This standard is referenced in Paragraph 3 – Terminology. These changes remove the reference to the withdrawn standards and reference the standards that would be applicable.
