ASTM WK91782
Revision of D8270-23b Standard Terminology Relating to Cannabis
Rationale
Addition of the acronym "DEI" Establishing the principles and practices of DEI in an enterprise ensures that all stakeholders, regardless of background, culture/cultural backgroundrace/ethnicity/origin, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, skin-tone/complexion, physical characteristics, age, and/or physical or cognitive abilities are invited to contribute and collaborate. At its core, integration of DEI into organisational systems and constructs strives for, and operationally ensures, fairness and equality between all individuals because of the value in their differences. The ASTM D37 DEI working group ensures that diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the forefront of the technical committee’s goals. The group works to promote diversity by bringing together individuals of all genders, economic standing, resource accessibility, perspectives, ethnicities, cultures, strengths, backgrounds, and experiences during the standards development process with the ultimate goal of establishing a success-oriented, cooperative, and humane community that draws intellectual strength and produces innovative solutions from the synergy of its diverse contributors.
