Consumers are looking for "natural" products, the same is true for consumers of cannabinoid products. There are many products on the market today that contain manufactured cannabinoids being sold next to products with natural cannabinoids with no means of distinction. Consumers and retailers are left without any assurances that the products they are buying/selling are what they say they are. Regulators are dealing with a new problem related to inverstion of materials into licit markets. It is cheaper to convert CBD to dirty d9-THC than it is to legally operate in some markets. This has lead to manufactured cannabinoids entering the marketplace and being sold as if they are the same as their natural counter part. This is leading to a public health crisis and has already produced a number of adverse events. By creating a symbol that clearly distinguishes between "natural" cannabinoids (phyto-cannabinoids) and all other types, we provide the marketplace with a means of protecting itself from the influx of manufactured cannabinoids and the potential public safety risks associated with them.
