New Guide for Acid Site Characterization on Zeolites Using a Dynamic Flow Method

1. Scope
This test method provides a measure of relative acidity and acid types on zeolites. The method is most useful as a screening tool to measure relative acid site concentrations on zeolites. It may be extended to other solid-state acidic catalysts provided that the user exercises care in optimizing the pretreatment and measurement conditions for the catalyst being tested.
Keywords
Propylamine; Desorption; Lewis; Bronsted
Rationale

This test method complements standard D4824, which involves catalyst acidity evaluation by dynamic ammonia chemisorption followed by a temperature programmed desorption (TPD). The method shall prove beneficial to users of metal-supported catalysts for research and quality control applications.
