Rationale

These revisions will update the standard to current industry expectations, align biodegradation requirements for constituents with ISO 17088, and place further limits on ingredients that could generate microplastics from compostable products. The revisions to be balloted in two separate ballots are as follows: Section 6.3.1.1 Increase the level of organic constituents required to be tested for compliance with biodegradation rates from 1 - 10% to 1 - 15%. Section 6.3.2 Reduce the sum of unproven organic constituents present at concentrations of less than 1% from 5% to 3%.
