Rationale

Many years ago, note 12 was reworded and table 3 was added in an effort to provide clarification on the relationship between specific gravity measurements and how temperature can affect those measurements. Table 3 has been questioned many times over the years concerning its accuracy and the formula used to arrive at the numbers listed. The original intent of the change has not helped create clarity. It is proposed that Table 3 be removed for B117 and note 12 be adjusted to inform the user to be aware of how to apply temperature “offsets” or adjustments to compensate for the measurement being taken and report a properly adjusted specific gravity measurement
