Paragraph 1.3 dates to the origin of this standard and the forging subcommittee - application based on product standard was included as the subcommittee was uncertain if the standard would be utilized and it was before use in general/common requirements of multiple product forms. Given that there is no longer a need and its inclusion poses a challenge when specified in the general/common requirements versus in the product standards, it is proposed to be stricken.
