ASTM WK93573

New Test Method for Measurement of Resistance to Vertical Deflection of Modular Flooring having Profiled Edges that Interlock.

1. Scope
1.1 This test method covers the fracture resistance of the profiled edges of modular flooring due to an applied vertical force at a given rate of speed, until initial fracture occurs. 1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
Keywords
profiled edge, vertical deflection, force, Resilient Flooring
Rationale

This is a new method which can be used to evaluate vertical force required to fracture the profiled locking edge of a resilient flooring product. This method provides one measure of evaluation for the fragility of the profiled locking edge.
