ASTM WK93838
New Practice for Exfiltration Acceptance Testing of Installed Precast Concrete Liquid Holding Structures
1. Scope
This practice covers procedures for testing installed precast concrete liquid holding structures, using water exfiltration acceptance limits to demonstrate the integrity of the installed materials, including structural integrity, and the construction processes with the exception of items included under the scope of Specification C1227 or C1613. Methods described herein are intended for installed systems only and are not intended to be used at the point of manufacture prior to delivery and assembly. Any disassembly or addition of components after performing this practice would invalidate the results. Keywords

Currently there is no ASTM standard for the practice of in-field hydrostatic testing of precast concrete liquid holding structures, typically water tanks composed of one or more assembled sections. References to hydrostatic test methods exist in specific sections of ASTM C969, ASTM C1227 and ASTM C1613, but those procedures are specific to products listed in the scopes of those standards and exclude precast concrete liquid holding structures. This standard establishes exfiltration acceptance testing criteria for all precast concrete structures regardless of shape or number of sections and is based on the criteria in ASTM C969 for circular manholes. This practice is only for structures that are in their final installed positions, precluding the use of this practice at the manufacturing facility prior to delivery.
