ASTM WK93956
Withdrawal of E1708-20 Standard Practice for Electronic Interchange of Color and Appearance Data
Rationale
This standard is being balloted for withdrawal with no replacement because This standard was developed in 1995 to conform to a method standardized by CGATS. Standard graphics arts terms were replaced by standard colorimetric terminology to facilitate the transfer of color and appearance data among colorists. The resulting procedure was never widely adopted by the color industry. Today almost all languages and applications support the transfer of data by their reading Excel (® Microsoft Corp.) files and writing text files, which can be read by Excel. The standard is no longer needed by the color industry. I recommend withdrawal of this document without replacement. Hugh S. Fairman Technical Contact E1708
