Rationale

No specific AWS standard is referenced in F2291. Instead, the AWS series of published weld standards are referenced generally throughout F2291 to provide design considerations for fatigue property data (8.30.1.1 and A1.18.1), allowable stress design (A1.12.3), and load and resistance factor design (A1.12.6). This ballot serves to eliminate the reference to the AWS standards in Section 2 and generalize the reference to the AWS standard in 8.30.1.1. The references to the AWS series of published weld standards in A1.12.3, A1.12.6, and A1.18.1 with be generalized in later ballots.
