Rationale

Many family-oriented amusement rides and devices allow lap sitting where a small child is allowed to sit on the lap of their supervising companion. None of the international amusement ride standards; ASTM F2291, EN 13814, GB 8408, or ISO 17842, address lap sitting. Consequently, since lap sitting is not expressly allowed by standards, some jurisdictions are forbidding this practice. Also front of body baby carriers are not addressed by international amusement ride standards. This ballot adds design requirements for both lap sitting and front of body baby carriers.
