Rationale

A discussion was held in Nov 2024 about adding thin film requirements in ASTM D618. D20.50 has, in the past, advised not to include such a revision in ASTM D618, as the proposed changes are not general conditioning requirements for all plastics, but specific to thin films. There was discussion that the revision is appropriate for inclusion in D618 as a recommendation based on material thickness, not only specific to thin films. These changes were originally discussed in a task group and balloted in 2019. Ballot received negatives so that draft with comments should serve as starting point for future work. This task group will evaluate thickness guidance in this standard.
