Withdrawal of E2726/E2726M-12a(2017) Standard Test Method for Evaluating the Fire-Test-Response of Deck Structures to Burning Brands

Rationale

This standard is being balloted for withdrawal with no replacement because this test method uses either a Class A or Class B burning brand to evaluate the vulnerability of a deck / deck boards to ignition from wind-blown embers (also known as firebrands). Burning Class A and Class B wood cribs (“brands”) do not provide a realistic threat scenario to a deck and therefore the current test method does not effectively evaluate the performance of a deck subjected to wind-blown embers (Hedayati and Quarles, 2020; Quarles and Standohar-Alfano, 2018). For this reason, this standard test method is balloted for withdrawal.
