Revision of C39/C39M-24 Standard Test Method for Compressive Strength of Cylindrical Concrete Specimens

Rationale

Testing machines are being used that have been designed to provide a constant rate of load application. This is contrary to the requirement that the specimen be loaded at a constant rate of platen-to-crosshead movement. This represents a problem because as the specimen approaches ultimate load, the rate of platen-to-crosshead movement will increase.
