New Practice for Applying a Goods Movement Process Code as Suffix to a Globally Unique Transport Unit Identifier
1. Scope
The global supply chain involves five distinct phases. The first phase is defined as the Forecast Phase, where supplier selection is accomplished; and the last Phase being the Analysis Phase, where the information from what was planned to happen can be accurately compared to what actually occurred to reconcile and report on results of the transaction; these two Phases ‘bookend’ the three phases that make up the Goods Movement Process. The Goods Movement Process’ three phases are the Planning Phase, the Execution Phase, and the Reconciliation Phase. At the first intention to ship goods prepared as cargo, we define a "Posted" status where the transport unit identifier (TUID) is first generated. This practice seeks to establish the relationship between the TUID and the terms defined in “F3682 - the Goods Movement Process, Phases, Statuses, and Events”. The focus will be on establishing a list of status codes that will be commonly used and correctly understood by all stakeholders providing a uniform and unambiguous way to communicate the TUID status. Keywords
