Rationale

The Masonry Society (TMS) has published Standards for the design, fabrication and installation of architectural cast stone. This ballot proposes to remove references to ACI 318, Building Code Requirements for Reinforced Concrete and replace them with references to TMS 404, Standard Specification for Design of Architectural Cast Stone. In addition, specifications for cast stone projects designed in accordance with TMS 404 may require a minimum average compressive strength greater than what is stipulated by ASTM C1364 – in which case the higher compressive strength would govern.
