New Specification for Interlayer materials used in the production of laminated glass for architectural applications.

1. Scope
The characteristics of interlayers used in the production of architectural laminated glass with two or more glazing layers are specified through the use of this document. Characteristics are classified as physical and mechanical properties as well as general performance and quality requirements. The interlayer materials may be supplied in various forms, most commonly sheets, rolls or resin. The interlayer materials may be processed through various means such as high heat and pressure, UV cure and chemical cure. The interlayers may be homogeneous, multilayered extruded or layered mechanically. This document does not apply to surface applied films or composites of surface applied films.
Keywords
interlayer, film, folio, foil, laminated glass, safety glass
Rationale

With the elevated interest in post breakage performance of glazing in the architectural industry, the specification of interlayers and a method to determine fitness for use has become necessary. This standard is intending to provide guidance for the users in this area.
