Revision of F1487-21 Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Playground Equipment for Public Use
Rationale
Revision of Clause 7.5.6.2 of F1487 Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Playground Equipment for Public Use. Changing the lower height of the handrail to 22 in. will align the requirements with those of the ADA, ABA, and IBC. Current wording from 2010 ADA Standard for Accessible Design 1008.2.5.3.2 Handrail Height. The top of handrail gripping surfaces shall be 22 inches (560 mm) minimum and 28 inches (710 mm) maximum above the ramp surface.
