Anoush Poursartip, professor at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, has received the Wayne W. Stinchcomb Memorial Award from ASTM International Committee D30 on Composite Materials.
The Stinchcomb Award is presented to an individual who has made outstanding contributions in research, engineering, or teaching the technology of composite materials. Poursartip was recognized specifically for contributing to the advancement of composites technology through a lecture he delivered in September 2014.
A specialist in the manufacturing and design of composite materials and structures, Poursartip joined the faculty in the Department of Materials and Engineering at the University of British Columbia as a postdoctoral fellow in 1984. He became assistant professor in 1986, associate professor in 1994 and full professor in 1999. Poursartip also acts as director of research at Convergent Manufacturing Technologies Inc. in Vancouver.
Poursartip received his bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate in engineering from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. He is a world fellow of the International Committee on Composite Materials and a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.
