ASTM International Committee D02 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants has presented the Sydney D. Andrews Scroll of Achievement to engineer Stanford P. Seto of Belcan Engineering Corp. in Cincinnati, Ohio. Seto was honored for his outstanding achievements in the petroleum industry and his contributions to the advancement of ASTM fuel standards.

Seto has been a member of ASTM International and Committee D02 since 1994. As the longtime chairman of Subcommittee D02.J0 on Aviation Fuels, he has been a major contributor to important D02 standards for aviation turbine fuels and fuel additives. The committee recognized his work with the Award of Merit and title of ASTM fellow in 2011.

A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, where he earned a master’s degree in engineering, Seto also holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He retired from GE Aviation in 2001 after 37 years of service, and has worked with Belcan Engineering group as a fuels and engineering contractor/consultant since 2002. A specialist in aerodynamic design and the performance and development of aviation gas turbine engines for flight, Seto represents GE Aviation Fuels in standards groups and related committees/forums like the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
