Dustin Fox, global technical director at Copperweld Bimetallics LLC of Brentwood, Tenn., the Americas Headquarters and Innovation Center for Fushi Copperweld Inc., has been elected chairman of ASTM International Committee B01 on Electrical Conductors.
Committee B01 develops ASTM International standards that cover electrical conductors, rods for drawing into wire and non-conductor support wire and strand. The committee and its eight subcommittees currently oversee 87 published standards, with several new standards under development.
Fox has been a member of ASTM International since 2003. He previously served as B01 vice chairman and was the longtime chair of Subcommittee B01.06 on Composite Conductors. He works on Committee A05 on Metallic-Coated Iron and Steel Products in addition to B01.
A graduate of Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind., where he received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Fox began his career at Belden Wire and Cable, Richmond, Ind., as a process/manufacturing engineer. In 1999, he joined Copperweld in Fayetteville, Tenn., as process/quality engineer. He was promoted to quality manager and then technical/global research and development manager before assuming his current role in 2011.
Outside ASTM International, Fox is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, SAE International and the Wire Association International Inc. He has received certifications as a Quality Technician and Manager of Quality/Overall Excellence from the American Society for Quality.
